We are very fortunate to have Charles Movalli as our juror of selection and awards this year. Charles received his BA from Clark University and his PhD from UConn. He has edited nine art books - with Emile Gruppe, Roger Curtis, Paul Strisik, Betty Lou Schlemm, and Claude Croney - and written over 70 articles as a Contributing Editor to American Artist magazine. He has demonstrated and lectured for over 100 art organization and conducted painting workshops in 24 states, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. His paintings are included in numerous private and corporate collections and he has won many prizes for his work including the Gold Medal at the Salmagundi Club and the Gold and Silver Medals at the Rockport Art Association. He is listed in Who's Who in American Art.

The 2nd Annual A Contemporary Look exhibition (a special invitation-only show) will hang in the Goodman Gallery. Please note that the Opening Reception for both shows will be held the week following Receiving Day, however the Associate’s exhibition will be up and ready for public viewing by Friday afternoon, January 14.

2010 Summer Juried Exhibition Opens

The CAS summer juried show will run from August 2 through August 22 and will be held in the Andrews Memorial Town Hall, Route 1 in Clinton, CT. The juror this year is Marissa Garibaldi, Guilford artist and art educator who was recently named "teacher of the year." An opening reception for artists, members and guests is scheduled on Sunday, August 1 to 5 pm to 7 pm..

Non selected work should be picked up during viewing hours on Monday Aug. 2 from 2 - 5 pm or 7 - 9 pm. Works included in the show should be picked up on Sunday, August 22 from 5 pm to 7 pm or Monday, August. 23 from 2 - 5 pm.

Show hours are Monday, August 2 through Sunday August, 22 from 2- 5 pm and 7 - 9 pm daily. (Except for Sun 8/22 when the show will close at 5 pm.)

New England Landscape Invitational

This juried exhibition will showcase exceptional New England landscapes by LAA Member Artists at the Individual, Associate and Elected Artist level. Artists are strongly encouraged to enter their best, new work, not previously exhibited at the LAA. Additionally, work by Invited Artists will be featured alongside Member work. Invited Artists will be selected by the LAA’s Artistic Policy and Exhibition Committee (APEC).

The Lyme Art Association is pleased to announce that the Guest Juror for this year’s New England Landscape Invitational will be Bartholomew F. Bland. Bartholomew is Curator of Exhibitions at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers, New York
